Welcome to the Southern California Chapter of HIMSS Academic Alliance Committee Mentorship page!!
The Academic Alliance Committee is currently exploring the development of a one-on-one e-mentoring partnership with a successful global mentoring organization. This outstanding and influential nonprofit mentoring organization matches protégés from over 110 college campuses with mentors from 1,100+ companies and organizations. When the partnership is finalized, SoCal HIMSS will be able to offer SoCal HIMSS working healthcare professional and student members the opportunity to be mentored by more senior and experienced SoCal HIMSS chapter members through the administration of the e-mentoring partnership. In addition, the partnership will provide SoCal HIMSS members the opportunity to sign up as mentors of protégé members of the chapter.
How the Mentorship Will Work

Protégés fill out a profile online stating their identity, goals, preferences for topics and mentors

The program automatically matches mentors to protégés

Protégés choose a mentor

The SoCal HIMSS Mentoring Partnership guides the one-on-one relationship over 8 months via e-mail

Requires only 15 minutes a week
Mentorship Benefits
Protégés that participate in the mentorship program will gain valuable insight and first-hand experience from low intensity, anytime-anywhere mentoring. Mentors will gain communication and leadership skills, visibility among the community, and will be able to make a contribution to the next generation of healthcare IT leadership with only a 15 minutes/week commitment.
